I've Got the Backstreet Fever!

So it took awhile for my all time favorite boyband to come back here in Manila - I'm 24 now for gosh sakes and I was first hit by the Backstreet Boys fever back in 5th grade. I've been a huge fan of the Backstreet Boys specially Nick Carter. I remember decorating my room with a bunch of BSB posters and buying magazines that have Backstreet Boys in them. I wanted to move to Tampa, Florida because of Nick! Yes, like so many other girls, I fantasized about us getting married. Years pass and although I've taken out the posters in my room and have found more celebrity crushes, I'm still a fan of these boys.

I'm glad that they're together again after all these years despite all that had gone on with their lives (marriage, families, engagement, solo albums). True the boys are older now but still! It's BSB, y'all!

I'm just so excited that I've been given a chance to see them perform live. I thank from the bottom of my heart, my friend, Karla for letting me swipe her credit card just so I can catch these boys as they perform tomorrow at the Big Dome.

The boys back then. They were probably the biggest boyband during the 90s. They really did take the world by storm.

The boys in their This is Us album cover minus Kevin Richardson. A little sad!

Seventeen year old Nicholas Gene Carter. He's totally adorable!

This is Nick now. He's 30 years old now, a bit far from the baby faced blonde blue eyed boy I first fell in love with. But I still love him.

It's going to be a great concert. I just know it will. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it

Remember Me

I hope this will be shown here in the Philippines. Yes, my Robert Pattinson love is starring in the film so I will watch it. I would love to see him play a different character than Edward Cullen even though I will forever have that brooding vampire as my all time favorite character played by RPatz.

The Vampire Diaries

Last night, I finally decided to watch The Vampire Diaries on DVD. This CW show was based on a book series just like Twilight, written by L.J Smith. These books by the way have existed long before the Twilight series so it's not one of those copycat books you can see in the bookstores nowadays when a certain book becomes really popular.

I haven't finished the series yet - I had to sleep of course considering there's work today - but it sure is intriguing and definitely getting exciting! The story revolves around Elena Gilbert, a small town girl who lives in Mystic Falls, Virginia and the two vampire brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore whom our heroine falls in love with. This is like Twilight really in the sense that it's a teen drama mixed with the supernatural but this one is a TV series which I like. No need to wait for another year to know how the story would unfold as told by Hollywood and since it's a TV series, it doesn't end so quickly so more time to get drawn in to the show.

In comparison, I think Nina Dobrev is prettier than Kirsten Stewart and her character, Elena seems more intriguing than Bella's. Now, Paul Wesley on the other hand, is just no match for Robert Pattinson who is far more good looking as a vampire than he ever will. His character Stefan though I think more complicated in character than Edward (I mean, hello! A brother for an antagonist? Turned undead at the peak of his life?)  is just no match for the latter. I still love Edward Cullen more. Now, Damon played by Ian Somerhalder, on the other hand, is one hot antagonistic vampire!

Edward Cullen is my ideal loverboy vampire, immortality with Edward Cullen? Hell yes! But I sure wouldn't mind getting bitten by Damon also although he is the evil vampire. But I'm excited to know what happens next in the series and while my other favorite TV show is on hiatus (Glee!), Vampire Diaries can keep me company for a little bit.

Stefan & Elena vs. Edward & Bella? It's still Edward & Bella all the way for me!

Who do you think is the hotter Salvatore brother? I think it's Damon!

Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore: YUMMY!

There's actually another vampire show that's making waves in the US - True Blood although I haven't seen it. I plan to also and when I do and I like it, I'll be sure to blog about it.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

The latest movie I can now add to my recently seen list is Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Now because I haven't been watching movies at the cinema lately, I had no idea about this movie. I also recently just found out that this is a movie adaptation of a book which is a four series story. I never saw the trailer for this so I had low expectation when my cousin so generously treated me to a movie in Greenbelt.
So let's proceed with my thoughts about the movie:

Good special effects. I only say good because it didn't blow me away. It's only slightly impressive but I guess I'll have to wait for the other three for more of the "wow" effects?

The protector guy was funny!

Nice plot though I can't really credit that on the scriptwriter because it's from a book. So kudos to the author.

Lastly, I loved Logan Lerman, the guy who played Percy Jackson. Haha. I'm sorry, I just can't resist adding that. I'm a sucker for hot/cute guys.

He kinda looks like Zac Efron actually.

It's a good movie though, seriously. It's not just because of Logan. It's entertaining to watch because it's an adventure film. Never a dull moment. I think I'll catch the three other films when they do show in cinemas already.
