Last Friday Night

Like a lot of working peeps, I always look forward to Friday because it means the last day of the work week and the start of the weekend. Now while I don't usually kick off the weekend by going out at night, when the party mood does strikes, the budget allows and friends who are game enough, I do get out to celebrate the coming of the weekend.

Last Friday was one of those days. I was supposed to meet some of my LEAP friends for a videoke party at Centerstage to celebrate with our September birthday celebrants but it got cancelled because none of the celebrants could make it and the videoke place was fully booked. But I was looking forward to going out and so when my friend, Shale invited me to meet up for drinks, I willingly went even though it was a windy and rainy night. We started the night with drinks at Dillingers, Greenbelt 3 with another friend of ours, Jade then we went to Red Box to sing our hearts out til the wee hours of the morning.

While waiting for the clock to strike 12am, we hung out by the lobby of Red Box and entertained ourselves by taking photos! Meet my two pretty girl friends - Jade (Left) and Shale (Right).

Don'cha just feel Jade's joy in this photo?

Jade is our resident rapper.

I do love this shot! Emote na emote! LOL!
Isn't Shale just oozing with sexiness in this photo? Look at those eyes! Smize-ing! Tyra Banks would be proud :)

And like Katy Perry says in her Last Friday Night song, I'm pretty sure that Friday ruled and this Friday, I want to do it again. :)

Walking in the rain

Flooding has become the new normal in Metro Manila. Even when there's no typhoon signal, even when it's just the monsoon rains, a lot of streets get flooded fast. While students get to stay comfortably at home because classes get suspended, us working peeps, don't always have such luck. We have to brave the strong rains and walk the flooded streets. And let me tell you something - I find it icky walking in the flood. After all, the streets of the Metro are not exactly known for their cleanliness.

So I finally decided to do something about it. I bought rain boots! Here are a couple of photos I grabbed from the Net. This is the Bearcat boots - they're foldable, lightweight and you can wear your shoes underneath it. They come in a couple of cute colors too - calm pink, hot rose and sky blue.

A pair costs Php1,999 usually but since I found a deal on Groupon, I got it at Php529. I am liking my Bearcat rain boots. Now my feet stay dry and protected.

Miley's Wrecking Ball

I just want to say I love Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball. I'm overlooking the controversy of this video. I'm overlooking her licking that shiny metal thingy which I think probably has a seriously disgusting taste. I'm overlooking her straddling a wrecking ball and the overall irrelevance of her nudity with the song.

Because the song minus the video is a beautiful song albeit a sad one.

I fell under your spell
A love no one could deny

I came in like a wrecking ball
I never hit so hard in love
All I wanted was to break your walls
All you ever did was break me

Don't you ever say I just walked away
I will always want you

I came in like a wrecking ball
Yeah I just closed my eyes and swung
Left me crashing in a blazing fall
All you ever did was break me
Yeah you wreck me

This one's for you. Because I will always want you

Gone too Soon

I read news and hear news every day about violent crimes but I sure never thought one would hit close to home. I was seriously shocked when I read about the brutal death of Kristelle "Kae" Davantes on ABS-CBN.

I knew Kae from graduate school. We shared some classes in DLSU since we were in the same course. We were even group mates in some of our classes. Though we never hung out after classes, I remember what a sweet person she was.

This beautiful girl always had a smile on her face whenever I'd see her - the genuinely huge welcoming smile that makes you feel you can easily approach her. She was really nice and friendly. I remember encountering her outside school a couple of years ago when I had a job interview at what turned out was the office where she worked in at the time and she wished me good luck and said she hoped we'd be able to work together.

Though we're not close friends, I really felt sad and heartbroken when I found out the horrific incident that happened to her last week. She was only 25 years old and capping the work week off with a few drinks with her friends, ready to welcome the weekend...She had her whole life ahead of her but then it was taken away just like that. I still feel sad when I hear and read the news about Kae. I can only imagine the magnitude of loss her friends and family are feeling right now.

She didn't deserve to die like that... But I guess God has his own plans for Kae. I pray that whoever did that horrible crime to her would pay for what he or they have done.

Justice for Kae.

Dear Kae, may your soul rest in peace.

Fifty Shades of Grey Movie Casting

When Fifty Shades of Grey - the book came out, I was one of those women who got hooked into reading the trilogy. I fell in love with Christian Grey and kinilig ako for Anastasia Steele, the book's heroine. I wanted my own Christian Grey! He was rich, young, romantic, strong and well, he was a darn good looking sex god according to how EL James described him!

And when it was announced that the book would be turned into a movie, I was one of the fans who was absolutely thrilled with the news! I was part of the thousands of other Fifty Shades of Grey fans who giddily anticipated who would be casts for the two lead roles.

I wanted Ian Somerhalder to play Christian Grey. I still do. And heck if I had my way, he would be Christian! My other female friends wanted Matt Bomer to play the part and well you know with those eyes of Matt's, he could be too.

For the role of Anastasia, I was rooting for Alexei Bledel. She would be perfect to play sweet and innocent looking Anastasia Steele.

And now, finally, the official casts have been announced. Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson have been cast for the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. I have to be honest. When I first found out about this, my initial reactions were "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" followed by "WHY THEM?!!"

But I guess producers saw something in them. And I'm pretty sure Twi-hards shared the same reaction when Robert Pattinson was cast as Edward Cullen and KStew was cast as Bella in the Twilight franchise. RPatz did Edward Cullen justice. Can't say the same about KStew though!

So...now that I've had time to absorb the news fully, I'm reading up more about these two actors who are set to bring to the big screen Christian and Ana. Also been searching the Web for more pictures of these two - particularly Charlie.

So this is Dakota Johnson, daughter of Melanie Griffith. She's relatively unknown. If you watched The Social Network, you'll see her there as the woman that Justin Timberlake's character slept with during that first scene of JT. Also according to Yahoo! she was in that short lived series "Ben and Kate". Never saw that series.

And this is Charlie Hunnam...

He was in Sons of Anarchy and Pacific Rim. He's been around the industry for awhile now but he hasn't really made it big yet. Maybe this will be his big break. When I first saw this photo, I was like "WTF! He's old!!! So not 27-year old Christian Grey!"

And long hair and beard does not suit him well too.

But a former officemate told me I should give him a chance. She said "Why? Give him a chance. He's sexy!" And so I searched for more photos of him. Yeah, he is good looking and sexy nga naman! Well in these photos at least:

I'm not sure how old he was in these photos though. He's 33 years old now. If these are recent photos, then yes, I would have to take back what I said that he cannot be Christian Grey and also say that to the producers/marketing people/PR people of the movie, you picked a bad photo of Charlie to accompany the announcement!

If not, then I guess I just have to keep my opinion to myself because they are going to be Ana and Christian. Anyway, I hope the screenplay will be good! After taking this long to announce details about the film, I seriously hope they've done their job right! If not, I know plenty of fans, including me, who will be very very disappointed and some won't hold back in expressing their opinion regarding the matter on social media.

I wonder if Fifty Shades of Grey would be shown here in the Philippines though? It's quite a risque movie. R18 perhaps? The release date is August 2014 so I'll have to wait and see til then.

Mango on my mind

I can't stand being in an air conditioned room for a long time. Unfortunately for me, it's always freezing cold in our office and my seat is directly in front of the air con. So I always make sure that I have a jacket around. But since my wardrobe update project, I've noticed that I lack fashionably fit jackets.

Well, recently, a couple of Mango jackets caught my eye!  I'm lusting for these jackets! I so want to buy them but I promised myself that I would only do so when I can afford to pay this in cash and not credit. So, I'm still saving for it.

Velvet Applique Blazer, Php1,950

Cotton Zipped Jacket, Php3,250
They're lovely aren't they? Mango always carry cute jackets.
