OOTD: Various Outfit Shots for Different Occasions

A friend of mine decided to join the blogging world recently. Make him feel welcome and follow him here. (",) His tumblr posts are going to be a mix of fashion, food and travel. So anyhow, he encouraged me to do fashion posts of my own as well. Not that I have any intentions of becoming a fashion blogger but because I do from time to time like to dress up, I thought I could do my own fashion posts as well.

Now because I usually take photos of myself all dressed up just when I'm about to run out the door already, my photos are not very detailed. Mostly full body shots. But I'll try to be more detailed in the near future. In the meantime, I'll share some of my fashion picks.

The Holiday

Every Christmas, the staple/must-watch/go-to movie of mine is Home Alone, like so many others out there. But my good friend Mark, who also happens to have great taste in movies, recommended The Holiday. I know, it's not a new movie. In fact, it's so 2006! But I saw it for the first time today. And I loved, loved, loved it!

When I watched it, I said to myself, that's me! (referring to Iris, Kate Winslet's character). My favorite couple in the movie is yep, Iris and Miles of course.I never really imagined Jack Black for a romantic lead guy but he works it perfectly with Kate Winslet in this movie.  I went on YouTube and found these two very nicely compiled video clips from The Holiday.

Realize by Colbie Caillat

Someday, like Iris, I hope to find my own Miles and I begin to act more like a leading lady than a best friend.

Ashes and Wine by A Fine Frenzy

And these lines from Iris --- direct hit to my heart:

Why am I attracted to a person I know isn’t good?
Because you’re hoping you’re wrong and every time he does something that tells you he’s no good, you ignore it. And every time he comes through and surprises you, he wins you over. And you lose that argument with yourself that he’s not for you.

I understand feeling as small and as insignificant as humanly possible. And how it can actually ache in places you didn’t know you had inside you. And it doesn’t matter how many new haircuts you get, or gyms you join, or how many glasses of chardonnay you drink with your girlfriends… you still go to bed every night going over every detail and wonder what you did wrong or how you could have misunderstood. And how in the hell for that brief moment you could think that you were that happy. And sometimes you can even convince yourself that he’ll see the light and show up at your door. And after all that, however long all that may be, you’ll go somewhere new. And you’ll meet people who make you feel worthwhile again. And little pieces of your soul will finally come back. And all that fuzzy stuff, those years of your life that you wasted, that will eventually begin to fade.

Heaven and Hell Halloween Party at Izumi Sake Bar

When the month of October comes rolling around, you'll start to see Halloween related items at the malls - from trick or treat for kids schedules, Halloween costume ideas for kids and the young at heart alike, horror films at the video stores and scary and downright creepy props you can display in celebration of Halloween.

I've always been fascinated with Halloween. I grew up watching Magandang Gabi Bayan  - the Halloween Special on ABS-CBN, various horror films on cable and local TV which of course almost always had the famous Halloween party scenes. So when When in Manila was invited to celebrate Halloween at Izumi Sake Bar at The Fort, I jumped on the chance.

It was a great night of partying filled with dancing and booze. Lemme share with you the photos I took that night:

My friend, Maila, decided to go as a She-Devil. Well obviously right? The pitch fork and the horns are a dead giveaway.

I was supposed to go as a witch but the hat I wanted was all gone by the time I decided to buy. So instead I settled for a dark angel in blue dress. A last minute improvisation. Haha.

There were those who dressed to the nines with their costumes:

And those who came simply as their fabulous selves...

There were even sexy pole dancers to entertain the party crowd.

Jose Cuervo really got everyone in that party mode and well drunken mode. Haha. Luckily I managed not to get so drunk otherwise I don't know where I'd end up. With only two of us at the party, both ladies - definitely not a wise decision to lose one's self in alcohol.

And of course, in every get together, there are always those peeps who bring the life to the party. At the Izumi Halloween party, they were those peeps:

It was truly a night to howl. Haha. I'd love to attend another Halloween bash next year with hopefully more friends. After all, the more the merrier right? (",)

Shopping for Rain Shoes

Today was a good day for shoe shopping. And since it's been raining like crazy again, I went to buy rain shoes! There's nothing like walking in the rain without worrying about your shoes getting ruined and with oh so cute rain shoes, I think it kinda adds a little bounce to your steps.

I had my eyes on Melissa's Wanting. But it wasn't a good fit. It was too loose. Sad.

I bought these cute Crocs shoes instead. I've had my eyes on these shoes in like forever! But I kept putting off buying it. I guess it was about time I did. Cute right? (",)

Give your feet the care they need with Titania

One of the most affordable ways a girl can prettify herself is by having clean and pretty feet. We go to the nearest salons to get a pedicure or a foot spa also as a way of pampering ourselves especially after a long, grueling week at school or the office. But let me share with you my confession about this - I fail to make time to visit nail salons religiously, reason being 1) I sometimes lack the budget as the average pedicure at a decent nail salon would cost around Php200 and 2) I actually have a bit of fear when it comes to strangers poking at my nails - specially my big toe. I've had several situations in the past where my big toe nail was poked too hard/too much, it not only ended up bleeding, it  swelled and for a few days or a week at least I couldn't dare wet it. I know so awful.

Well here's something I just recently discovered. If you want to do your own foot spa, Titania is the foot care brand to go to! I actually came to know about this only because I was invited to a bloggers' sparty at Freyja Day and Nail Spa.

These are the different products from Titania, the leading European manufacturer of foot care.

While Ms. Joni Ong, Marketing Manager of Titania took us through the step by step procedure on how to achieve pretty feet using their products, the women of Freyja Day and Nail Spa took care of demonstration.

This is Ritchelle, also a blogger friend of mine, getting her own feet pampered.

So how do you do a foot spa on your own? Here are the steps using Titania products:

That warm water feels so nice on my tired feet

Start a nice, basic "cure" for your feet with a soothing footbath using warm water with Titania’s vital footbath salts in a basin.  Made with stimulating Dead Sea salts, this will relax tired muscles and soften the skin, making it easier to scrub off the dead skin later. Regular use can also prevent foot odor and athlete’s foot.

Afterwards, use a foot rasp for taking off the hard skin of your feet. Titania’s foot rasp is made of stainless steel.  It is easy to be cleaned under warm running water and guarantees a hygienic use the next time you need it.

Get rid of callous and soften your skin with Titania’s range of double-sided foot file. Choose from the various emery or pumice foot files available. The file has a soft and a rough emery side or a soft pumice and rough emery side so you can decide for yourself if your skin still needs more softening.

I also had my long nails cut as it's more comfortable to actually wear closed shoes with short nails. To avoid ingrown nails, you have to cut it in a square/straight manner.

Finally, soothe and nourish with Titania’s foot mask, which contains grape seed, almond oil and calming lavender. To further soften and calm your feet, you may use Titania’s foot balm and other softening foot lotions, giving the “final touch” to your freshly groomed feet!

Luckily, the attending I had was very gentle with my feet. They're definitely pretty now aren't they? (",)

As a bonus, Titania actually allowed us to pick a coat of nail polish for our feet. I picked green 'cos it's such a happy and bright color - absolutely perfect for this gloomy and rainy season.

Beauty goodies from Titania! A complete set of their foot care product line. Now I have no excuse not to have clean and pretty feet.

If you want to find out more about  Titania’s Soft Touch line for women, please “like” Titania PH on Facebook ( or follow @Titania_PH on Twitter.  Titania’s Soft Touch line is available in all leading department stores nationwide and its products include the nail cutter, cuticle nipper, corn cutter, cuticle cutter and pusher, and three different kinds of foot files to suit your needs.

And there you have it, ladies. Now there is no more excuse not to have pretty feet that you can flaunt together with your fabulous shoes!

Fifty Shades of Grey - The Movie

I've been hooked on reading Fifty Shades Trilogy. I, like a lot of females out there, have been hit by the Christian Grey fever. I have to say that out of all the chic lit books I've read so far in my life, no novel hero has appealed to me as much as Mr. Grey...

And now there is official announcement that Fifty Shades of Grey, the first book of the trilogy is about to be made into a movie. You know what that means! The suspense and excitement is on as to who will be cast as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

Personally, my pick for Christian Grey is Ian Somerhalder. He's gorgeous. He's hot. He's got those seductively menacing eyes. And he can be vulnerable, bossy and sexy as hell all at the same time. You just have to see him as Damon Salvatorre to know I am right!

Here's a fan made trailer of Fifty Shades of Grey with Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey.

Some other Fifty Shades fans are rooting for another guy to play Christian Grey though. I've heard the name of Matt Bomer (played Blaine's big bro on Glee) get thrown in a lot for the role of Mr. Grey. He's not so bad either.

I think for the role of Anastasia Steele, Lucy Hale and Alexei Bledel would be perfect for the role. I'm so excited to know who gets to actually play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Have you read the books? Are you also a fan? Who are you rooting for as Grey and Steele in the movie version?

My Corregidor Historical Adventure Trip

The best thing about living in the city is leaving it from time to time. So I decided one weekend to start it off with a trip to Corregidor Islands with a friend.

I've always known that Corregidor was a historical place as it played a big role during World War 2. But it was only when a friend of mine shared an article about Sun Cruises offering a day tour package trip to Corregidor Islands that I really got enticed to visit the place.

So off we went one early Friday morning to CCP Complex to board the boat that would take us to the island of Corregidor, about 26 miles from Manila. The trip from Manila to Corregidor took about 1 1/2 hour. I highly suggest you drink Bonamine before boarding even though you don't think you're the type to get seasick. Trust me. I didn't have vertigo but the way those waves splashed around our boat which was enclosed and airconditioned, well, I found myself having a dizzy spell. Luckily, I didn't throw up like some of the other passengers in the boat did.

I recommend bringing shades, applying sun block, and tying your hair if it's long when you decide to take a trip here by the way. Oh and drink Bonamine to avoid sea sickness.

I was so happy to see this sign the moment we docked. Why? Well, first it signaled the end of my horrible boat trip and two, it signaled the official start of our tour.

The tramvia. This is the ride that took us around the island.

And that's Sir Carlos Reyes, our tour guide. Each tramvia had its own tour guide. I quite liked ours. He cracked amusing jokes while he went on telling the history behind Corregidor.

One of the places we visited during the trip was the Japanese Memorial Garden. Here are some of the wonderful sights to see there:

Of course being the defense of Manila, there are actually quite a lot of those big and heavy artillery around the island. That's just one of them.

We also went to the Filipino Heroes Memorial Park. It has a museum that housed old photos of our Commonwealth President, Manuel L. Quezon and some paintings too.

President Quezon sure was good looking during his youth. Bet a lot of women during his time vied for his attention.

My favorite stop was the trip inside the Malinta Tunnel.

Ryan and I watched the Lights and Sound with Diorama inside the Malinta Tunnel. Prepare to shell out an extra Php150 for this. It's optional of course. Those who don't want to watch can just stay inside the bus. But I didn't want to stay behind. Hello! Why should I? I went to Corregidor to take in as much  historical culture as I possibly could and that's the Malinta Tunnel. One should not miss going inside.

Photos of the lateral tunnel inside the Malinta Tunnel which they said proved to be a very good hiding place for General McArthur, the American army and the Commonwealth President, Manuel Quezon. Since we only took the day tour trip, we didn't get to explore the lateral tunnels. If you're really adventurous, I highly suggest you take the overnight trip and go ghost hunting inside the Malinta Tunnel. I would've wanted to but there was no convincing Ryan to do the same. Scaredy cat. Haha.

Interesting bird. Never seen anything like it in Manila. I'm not sure what kind of bird this is.

Like I said, quite a lot of these heavy artillery around the island.

The famous ruins... The ones you always see in photos whenever Corregidor is mentioned. This is Ryan's favorite sight to see actually. Well that's actually one of the military barracks in the island. According to our tour guide, this used to be one modern military barracks complete with a library, a training ground, entertainment area etc.

That's a bomb crater right there. It's where one of the bombs landed during the World War 2.

The Pacific War Memorial was one of our last stops. It's nice there. You have to go in to find a breathtaking view.

An interesting art piece that you'd find inside the Pacific War Memorial.

This is Cine Corregidor. Back in the days of the American invasion, Filipinos and Americans alike caught the latest Hollywood flicks in here. The last movie shown here was Gone with the Wind with the famous line "Frankly my dear I don't give a damn."

Photos of me taken by my friend, Ryan.

This is my favorite. It's a shot taken up the lighthouse. (",)

My Corregidor experience was an overall wonderful historical trip. I only wish I didn't have to pay Php2,300 for it since I saw that they had a promo with DealGrocer a few days after I booked our trip at only P1,000+. Oh well. I still enjoyed my trip with Sun Cruises. Try it out too! It's a nice adventure out of the city.

If you want to know more about the schedules and package rates, read this. You can also give Sun Cruises a ring at the ff. numbers: (632) 834-6857 to 58 or 966-9391 to 92.
