Butterfly Twists launches Autumn Winter '13 collection

Confession: I am a shoe-aholic! Whenever I'm in the mall, I always have to stop by a shoe store. Some of my favorite shoe brands are Parisian, Schu, Melissa and recently, Charles and Keith. I've even blogged about my shoe lust here. So when I saw that When in Manila was being invited to attend the launch of Butterfly Twists Autumn Winter 2013 collection, I took the assignment.

Butterfly Twists was designed with girls-on-the-go in mind. These innovative shoes can be folded, stored in a pouch and stashed in a bag. It was originally marketed as after-heels footwear but later on it became a game changer in its field - making each pair not only stylish, but also durable enough for a whole day walking affair.

Who would've thought this UK-based, fashion forward foldable shoe brand was actually an idea born out of four men? Yes, you read that right! It all started when one of the founders, who prefers to remain incognito, lost a bet and had to wear 6-inch stilettos to a party. The rest was painful-fee history.

Mark Quaradeghini, co-founder of the Butterfly Twists, said "The way women live today, everyone seems to be enjoying the on-the-go lifestyle. You have a career, you travel, you shop, you go out a lot, you workout, and you have a family to attend to. This is why Butterfly Twists is here as their shoe partner whatever activity they do - a shoe on the go for the woman on the go." He further added, "We want women to be able to do things they love in confidence. You will walk in style without having to worry about painful feet, which can only be delivered by a shoe made with the busy woman's lifestyle in mind. That's our brand essence, and that's what Butterfly Twists delivers."

Presenting the Butterfly Twists Autumn Winter 2013 Collection. Prepare to lust over them and grab on to your wallets ladies because these shoes are absolutely fabulous!

My favorite among the bunch was the Windsor Wellies, which are rollable rain boots. These babies will definitely come in handy this rainy season! I can tread the flooded streets of Manila in style!

Before the actual program began, all the attendees were asked to play a game of Origami. We needed to create well what else? A butterfly! I seriously suck at origami. The only thing I can create out of folding paper is a paper boat. Although I have a faint recollection of being able to successfully create a Camera origami back in my elementary days.

That's as far I could create following this instructions. See? I suck!

Meet Nika and her boyfriend. This 20-year old fashion blogger shared the same cocktail table with me and look at her origami making skills. I'm so pathetic! Haha!

Tada! A butterfly! She must've taken pity on me because she took over making my Origami butterfly. I can almost hear my cousin, Mark's voice saying "Geez! You are so helpless!" I'm really not! Well, okay, in some cases such as this I am! Aminado ako! Haha!

My Photo Collection

In College, I was chosen as one of the best student photographers in our class. I always thought it was a fluke. But I can take good photos from time to time. Maybe not as good as Ryan who understands lighting, angles and stuff like that so don't ask me those technical stuff but still good.

Let me share some of the memorable shots I've amassed through time:

Story behind the photo: Taken when I was staying at my Tita's house in Quezon Province. My Tita loves gardening. I was going to 2013 Pahiyas Festival that time.

Story behind the photo: This is a pre-nup photo shoot at Sofitel. I happen to be there with my friends, Jordan and Mark who was here on vacation at the time. This was a sweet moment between the two so I played paparazzi. Thanks to my Samsung WB150F camera with 18x optical zoom I was able to take this.

Story behind the photo: ONE LOVE, Leap 55. I took this leadership training seminar and this was from our graduation. It was one of the best leadership programs I took! I've met and developed friendships with the people I were with in that seminar.

Story behind the photo: I took this at Passion Restaurant in Resort's World, Manila. Standing in heels for hours along with the invited various journalists from different publications waiting for Kobe Bryant to show up during the Lenovo K900 presscon.

Story behind the photo: Typhoon Maring brought on flooding in and outside our house. My cousin and I decided to make a paper boat to pass the time since there was no electricity in our house at that time.

Story behind the photo: Kids playing in the flood during Typhoon Maring. Look how happy they are! But really kids, that's disgusting. The very thought gives me the creeps. And you can get sick from this!

Story behind the photo: I accompanied Maila at Rustan's Gateway to buy toys as gifts for her nephew and niece. She takes forever to shop (Maila, if you're reading this, don't get mad. You know it's true! Haha) and looking at the toys brought out the kid in me!

Red Velvet Cheesecake at Slice

Sunny Salpicao, The Early Breakfast Club

Story behind the photos: These two I took today with my Samsung Galaxy S3. Early this morning, I got a text invite from Ryan to go to brunch. I normally sleep in during the weekend but spontaneous invites like this comes rarely from my best friend so off I went with him and my other dear friend Bonsch. These delicious foods from The Early Breakfast Club and Slice, both located in BGC were treats from them because I'm already a pauper and payday is still a few days away. Lovely way to start my Saturday.

Crazy over Boy Bands Then and Now

Last Friday, Ryan and I got to talking about One Direction and their Best Song Ever video which kind of spoofed some of the popular boy bands of the past. While One Direction may be the biggest, most popular and most adored by millions of screaming teenage girls and gays today, kami na batang 90s, had our own fair share of stories about swooning over those adorable boy banders who sang so well. Even more swoon worthy they were if they could dance too!

Here's my confession: I was a huge boy band fan.

I collected magazines - local and international alike (my fave was BOP! ) that had boy band photos, posters and stories in them. I bought photos of boy bands sold by sidewalk vendors and compiled them in a photo album. And yes, my room back then had posters of the boy bands I loved plastered all over the walls. Not to mention, a collection of their music CDs, video CDs and cassette tapes.

A1, NSync, Boyzone,  Westlife and Blue - these were my favorite boy bands. But the one I really, really, really adored, loved and swooned over was the Backstreet Boys. I particularly had such a big crush on their youngest member - the blond hair, blue eyed Nick Carter. I loved him to bits! Loved, loved, loved him!

Ryan shared Kami ang Batang 90s photo of what the boy band 911 looked now on Facebook fast forward 10 years or so later (I loved the UK boyband 911 too) so I thought I'd share it here for a Then and Now blog post. I specially loved their lead singer, Lee Brennan. I thought he was the cutest guy ever - next to Nick Carter of course!

Here are the Then and Now photos of my two favorite boy bands back in the day:

I think Lee and Nick are still both good looking even now.

And if I was still a teenage girl today, you betcha I'd be one of those girls swooning over 1D. When Simon Cowell signed the group on, he probably knew they'd hit it big because One Direction had the right combination of what would make a boy band mega popular = catchy songs + good looks.

See? All very cute looking boys! And don't cha just love their English accent? I would have to say that out of these five guys though, my favorites would be 1) Harry Styles (of course) and 2) Zayn Malik.

Anyway, I'll leave you with these 2 catchy songs that have been running on replay in my head since Friday.

911's Love Sensation UK video version. Super loved Lee in this vid! *Swoon*

Pamper Me Monday: Bakit Di Ka Crush ng Crush Mo

For our second Pamper Me Monday thing, Maila and I watched "Bakit Di Ka Crush ng Crush Mo". My friend, Ryan had seen the movie and was raving about it. Curious, I invited Maila to see it for our Monday after work bonding.

Well the story is cliche - ugly duckling turned beautiful swan, gets noticed by the handsome guy and they fall in love but I liked this movie. Uber feel good. It's funny and nakakakilig at the same time. I'm not a fan of Kim Chiu but she sure has comedic acting chops. Funny but not OA and not trying hard either. Very natural. She could pull off the jologs ako character.

And Xian Lim, well what can I say? Ang pogi talaga!!!!!!

Such beautiful chemistry these two have on screen.

I have not read the book yet (I intend to) but there sure are some memorable lines from the movie:

"San po tayo miss?"
"Kung saan pwede makalimot."

"Diba pag inlove ka, tanga ka?"

"Do me a favor Sandy. Don't be needy. Let the man call you first."

Sadyang mailap ang hanap ng tunay na pag-ibig. Madaling sabihing mahal kita, madaling isiping mahal ka niya. Pero paano mo malalamang… Eto na, eto na talaga.

I'm sure a lot of people can relate to this movie. I know I did. Placed in the friend zone. Ouch. That sucks. But as Ramon Bautista said, "The best revenge is to live an awesome life."

Anyway, this is an awesome movie to watch with an equally catchy soundtrack. (",)
