With my favorite Shonda Rhimes TV series Scandal nearing its season finale and How to Get Away with Murder Season 2 already wrapped up, I went searching for new TV shows to watch. These are the two new shows I’ve added on to my list of must-watch series every week:

Jane The Virgin

I know this series started 2 years ago. But I was only enticed to watch it after seeing a preview of the tagalized version on ABS-CBN about a week or two ago. I’m not watching that version. I’m watching the original English version.
I found the preview amusing so I decided to watch it. I’m only on season 1 since I just started watching but it’s not disappointing me at all. I’m loving Jane’s quirky family – Abuela, her mom and her Dad (the telenovela superstar).
And I love her detective ex-fiance, Michael Cordero.
They had such a meet-cute story. And he’s so in love with her that he’s actually willing to wait for her to be ready for sex. And when she got pregnant with another man’s baby, he was still willing to stick around and take care of the baby (granted he freaked out for awhile and didn’t really want Jane to keep the baby but he got on board eventually so I gotta give him credits for it).
I’m just not into Rafael. I agree with her mom. They are just from two different worlds. I think he also wouldn’t have noticed Jane’s existence again if she didn’t get accidentally impregnated with his baby. He kissed her five years ago and never bothered to call which makes me think he’s a real bad boy.
So yeah, needless to say, I’m all for Team Michael!
Oh and can I just say how fabulous Rose, Raphael’s stepmother and his sister’s lover looks?
Using this Holy Week break to catch up on Jane the Virgin. I can’t wait to find out how Jane’s story progresses in Season 2.
American Crime Story: The People v OJ Simpson
So this one is based on a true story. OJ Simpson was a popular football athlete back in the 90s and he was charged with double murder – that of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Lyle Goldman. It was a very sensationalized trial. I was too young then when this happened. But this series, it got me hooked. I don’t know if OJ was really guilty (he was acquitted) but from watching this show, I have to say he really did have a great team of lawyers working for him.
I gotta give props to Sarah Paulson who plays Marcia Clark in the series. Great acting! From her, I can already feel the frustration and hardship that the real Marcia Clark went through during the real trial. And the biggest blow of it all, they lost the case after believing so much that they had all the evidence to convict OJ.
Also great acting from John Travolta as Robert Shapiro!
