I found myself spending more on beauty products recently. I’m not just talking about face skincare products or makeup which are usually the things we women like to spend our hard earned money on. Sure I allowed myself to splurge on moisturizer and serum but I’m also spending on other beauty stuff like for the hair and feet. And while I’ve never been a fan of Korean products, I found myself one day shopping at Althea, an online shop that has more than 100 Korean beauty brands waiting to be discovered!
I was browsing Facebook when a makeup primer with a cute packaging design caught my eye. That’s how I started exploring Althea. Since my Benefit Pearl Primer, which I love, was running low, I figured it was time to buy a new one – a more affordable one at that. So I bought the primer and three other things – two of which I’m sharing my feedback on below.
Hair Care: CP-1 Raspberry Treatment Vinegar
I’ve been trying to give my hair some TLC since late last year. I’ve abused it so much over the years. Aside from the weekly hair mask I now am working on doing religiously, I’m also working on deep cleaning my hair with this CP-1 Raspberry Treatment Vinegar. I read that the scalp just like our face’s skin can get build up from the products that we use aside from the dirt that gets on it when we step outside. If the scalp is clogged, that can result in limp, dull and lifeless hair. Want to grow thicker and healthy hair? Do a beauty detox and deep clean your hair so that’s what I’m doing.
So I’ve been researching online for a deep cleansing product and initially found raves about Burt’s Bee’s Avocado Butter Pre-Shampoo Hair Treatment but I couldn’t find this product in any store that carries Burt’s Bee’s.
I chanced upon CP-1 Raspberry Treatment Vinegar while browsing Althea and there were plenty of rave reviews! I know what you’re thinking. Vinegar? Well, before you make a disgusted face at the thought of your hair smelling like vinegar, don’t worry! This product is sweet smelling! And yes it is awesome. I use this thrice a week (MWF) after shampoo and skip the conditioner. This product not only makes my hair smell amazing but I actually feel like my scalp is getting a deep cleansing treat. It gives my hair volume and it feels so light too. And yeah, it’s super affordable! This 500ml bottle cost me only Php350!
Foot Care: Calmia Silky Perfect Foot Peeling
I often neglect taking care of my feet. I get the occasional foot spa and pedicure but I don’t do it often. As a result, I’ve had very dry and cracked heels – not sexy at all. But I found this on Althea and it promised to help peel away dry skin and help in healing cracked heels. Again there are plenty of rave reviews about it so I bought it because my feet could use the help! Plus I figured if it works on me, I would buy another for my mom too who also suffers from dry and crack heels.
How does it work? You put them on like you do with socks on your clean feet after pouring in the liquid that’s supposed to help in peeling the dry skin. It’s not a leave on product – you’re just supposed to wear this for about an hour or an hour and a half and then wash off your feet. After a few days, the peeling would start.
So did it work? Heck yes! It took about a week for me to start seeing my feet peeling but once it did, I could not help but be thrilled when my feet started showing new and soft skin. The peeling part made me feel quite conscious about my feet though especially when it started peeling like crazy. I guess you can wear closed shoes to hide that. I’m often wearing open toed sandals. So are the cracks on my heels no longer there? Well no, not exactly but it has been reduced dramatically! And because it’s effective and also affordable at only Php200 I already bought another one for me and my mom.
Althea Impression
I’m so happy with my product purchases at Althea. I never thought to give Korean skincare much of a chance before but now that I’ve discovered affordable beauty gems from it, you betcha I’m going to check out more K-beauty products in Althea.
Just like other online shops, I like that they also have various payment methods. Cash on delivery charge of Php50 is waived for now so taking advantage of that as I’m trying to lessen my credit card debt. I also like that Althea offers discount promo codes and even lets me earn reward points from purchases that I can use for future purchases. Cherry on top? Althea is on Shopback which means I get rebate from shopping on their site.
