The first time I heard of Rock Ages was when I watched the movie last year. The movie got bad reviews  from the critics but I thought it was good. Tom Cruise was a rock god in the movie. Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta as Drew and Sherrie made a wonderful pair. But most of all, I really loved the soundtrack. I’m more of a pop music lover but I truly enjoyed the rock songs featured on Rock of Ages.

I didn’t know it was originally a Broadway musical until I heard about the one by Atlantis Productions where Mig Ayesa plays the role of Stacee Jaxx. While I didn’t get to catch the first run of Rock of Ages here in Manila, I finally got to see its repeat run and it’s all thanks to Velvet Channel’s 2 tickets giveaway contest on Facebook of which I was one of the four lucky winners. Thank you Velvet! (“,)

The play’s story was a bit different from the movie version but I enjoyed watching both. I thought Jett Pangan and Aiza Seguerra stole the show. I loved their performances the most. I liked Nyoy Volante as Drew as well. But of course I loved Diego and Julianne’s pairing more than Nyoy and Vina. They have more chemistry together. And maybe I’m a little bit bias too because I think Diego is a hottie and I’m a fan of Julianne!

Don’t they just look so adorable together?

Anyhoo, let me share with you my most favorite songs from Rock of Ages:

 Every Rose has its Thorn
I’ve Been Waiting for a Girl like You  (Super loved this scene in the movie)
Harden my Heart/Shadow of the Night
