What movie made me fall in love with watching movies? Why, it’s Back to the Future!

Oh I remember this Michael J. Fox movie so well. Set in the 80s, teenage Marty McFly accidentally travels back in time to the 1950s with a car as a time machine. This movie is a mix of suspense, action, romance and comedy! And this movie is what made the concept of time travel very appealing to me. This movie was so creatively written and the special effects were wonderfully done too!

Did you guys know that another actor was supposed to play Marty McFly? Eric Stoltz from Some Kind of Wonderful was set to play the part but he was replaced by Fox because the director felt that Stoltz wasn’t delivering the right humor for the film. And as you probably know, Back to the Future went on to become a box office hit that it became a trilogy!

My favorite of the three was Back to the Future 2 where Marty this time travels to the future, to the year 2015 to prevent his future son from ending up in jail.

Mini Pizza Hut? Pop it in the oven and watch it become bigger, ready to eat!

Gotta love this imagined future! But well, the year is now 2014 and in this real life, cars still travel on the road, there’s still no flying hoverboard and no instant large pizza either! But it’s not to say that it can’t happen in the near future. After all, technology nowadays is developing really fast! So many new things we can now do that we couldn’t do before because of the technological advancements!

Take the case of smartphones. Nowadays, our mobile phones can do so much more than just place and receive calls. We can now send and receive text messages, we can now surf the Internet, watch movies on it and listen to music. With the development of so many smartphone apps, we can even manage our lives with a few clicks/taps here and there. There are fashion-related apps, health-related apps, workout apps etc. I’ve become one of those people who now can’t live without her smartphone!

Speaking of apps, here’s another cool app that I’ve just discovered: the GMovies app. It’s the ultimate pocket app for your movie fix!

Well because I can book and buy tickets to the movies I want to see right where I am, all I need is my smartphone and a decent Net connection! The discovery of this app has come just in time because 22 Jumpstreet is now in cinemas and I want to watch it!

Here’s how to use the app: 


Step 1: Pick the movie from the Now Showing list

Step 2 Pick the cinema where you want to watch 

Step 3 Pick your preferred time slot. The app shows you not only the available movie time slots for your selected cinema, it also shows you ticket price and the number of available seats.

Step 4: Time to select your seats! 

Step 5: Click on buy and select how you want to pay. 

You can use a promo code, credit card or MPass since I picked an Ayala cinema

At the moment, I think the app only allows mobile reservations for Ayala cinemas since I tried to book at Newport Mall, Robinson’s and SM Cinema but I got a notice that “mobile reservation is currently not available for this cinema”. Oh well I prefer Ayala cinemas anyhow so it’s fine by me! Ha ha!
