Well I recently saw the news and there was already a segment about the different strategies on how people can cope up with the rainy season. And it has been raining a lot more frequently these days… Which means summer is really coming to an end already.

Summer’s my favorite season. Well I do live in a tropical country where there are only two seasons technically. But still… Summer remains to be my favorite. You know as a tribute to it, I feel like throwing a party. A one-last-summer-hurrah kind of party.

You know I’d throw a pool party! Yes! Because I like swimming (I know how to swim a little bit) but I don’t like the beach though my friends do. So as a compromise to my friends, a pool party will do. At least it’s still blue water right? (“,)

So I’d start with the invitation design. I found these designs that I really like online at Paperless Post. According to their website, Paperless Post helps you create online and paper stationery that reflects your individual aesthetic. Our distinctive, customizable designs and powerful online tools make it easy to communicate expressively on any occasion—from everyday correspondence to milestone life events. Paperless Post collaborates with leading fashion and lifestyle designers, including kate spade new york, Oscar de la Renta, Jonathan Adler, and John Derian.

A collaboration with the leading fashion and lifestyle designers – pretty cool if you ask me!

I’d probably send my invite out through social media. You know – Twitter, Instagram or Facebook because that’s more cost-efficient. Well I guess that’s what makes Paperless Post different. The invite you customize can either be for online or for paper (if you wanna go old-fashioned way). You can check their other invite designs here.

The party will be thrown on a weekend of course – one sunny Saturday. What will people see in my party? Let me tell you.

A place where everyone can apply sunblock before swimming because my friends and I don’t like getting sun burned!

And there would be a lot of food of course because swimming can really whet your appetite. Bring on the carbs!

Burgers
Barbecue
Club Sandwich

And okay for those who don’t eat a lot, I’d prepare some light snacks for them too.

Potato salad – Okay this is still carbs! But I love it!
Canapes

And more canapes!

And yummy colorful sweet treats!

As for the party drinks, I’d have a mix of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks.

Free flowing iced tea

Cocktail drinks

As for the attire, I’m thinking mostly about what my girl friends and I would wear. I wouldn’t have a strict dress code for my pool party. Except well that they should wear the proper swim attire. Okay, my pool party dress code would be this: bring on the fashionista – because it’s the day and age of social media where the photos are taken on smartphones and instantly shared online for everyone to see.

Personally these are my pegs:

Well nothing screams summer than colors right? Speaking of colors, that would definitely be seen in my party decors too. Bright, fun colors.

Inflatable tubes in different colors because a lot of my friends don’t know how to swim apparently! Ha! Ha!

And as for the party music, I’d find a playlist on Spotify. I love that music app! It’s got a lot of songs, different playlists and for a party playlist, there’s not just one playlist. There’s a lot to choose from. Here’s one I’d play in my party – it’s called Weekend Hangouts. The description is perfect: throwing a party, having a drink by the poolor just chilling with your friends.

And as a souvenir, I guess I’d give them a bottle of bubbles. You know to embrace the kid in them.

Blowing bubbles can be so much fun right? It’s relaxing too.

So that’s going to be my party. My pretend party that is since I don’t really have a pool at home (I wish I did). But you know it’s fun to daydream and do a make believe party planning. Some day though I may be able to throw a really fun pool party. For now, I guess I’ll have to make do with whispering a “Goodbye summer. It’s been fun” statement in the wind.
