Yep, you read it right! I did put Take 2 on the title of this blog post because it was my second time to watch Carlos Celdran’s Livin La Vida Imelda. I went on the Livin La Vida Imelda walking tour a couple of years back with Mai Ann.

This time, the walking tour has leveled up and has become a one-man performance arts show by Carlos Celdran held at Pineapple Lab, Makati and I watched it with Maila and her boyfriend, Paollo.

I arrived first about 30 minutes before the show started so I was able to check out Pineapple Lab for a bit. Saw some interesting art works on display.

And then there’s this interesting bar inside Pineapple Lab.

It’s time to address the giraffe in the bar

People apparently could order drinks in the bar and bring it inside while the show was on going.

I was very much excited to catch the show even though I’ve already experienced the walking tour. It was after all a couple of years back already and I’ve forgotten most of what was told. What still stands out though is of course Carlos Celdran himself and how he tells the story. Very theatric. And I do remember going inside PICC and admiring the chandeliers that were put in because Imelda wanted a grand structure. And what says grand than chandeliers right?
Since we were allowed to take photos (just no flash photography), I did take a couple of shots while the show was on going.

Livin La Vida Imelda now makes use of multimedia and there are more props this time. You’d be more engrossed in how Carlos Celdran tells the story of Imelda this way. Watching his performance show is like getting a refresher course in Philippine History only more entertaining.

Imelda was a beautiful lady during her youth. She really was. And I think she lived a really glamorous life – rubbing elbows with international politicians, royalty and Hollywood celebrities. Imelda also had brains. I don’t think she would have been able to run the country in place of her sick husband, Marcos if she didn’t.

I think this kind of show is very timely and should be watched by more people especially the youth considering election day is nearing and Imelda’s son Bongbong Marcos is running for the second highest position in the country. There’s so much one can and will learn from Carlos’ show. It can be a real eye opener for those who are thinking of electing Bongbong into office and Duterte who’s running for President.

Carlos is right you know? Filipinos revolted against a dictator, against Martial Law where numerous human rights were violated. And now, there are people thinking of electing a man whose solution to eradicating crimes is killing criminals – the petty criminals if I may add. Isn’t that ironic? We voters need to be vigilant and wise about who we elect in the government positions. After all, our futures depend on it.
