The arrival of Big Bad Wolf Books in Manila was definitely exciting news for a book lover like me!

What is the Big Bad Wolf Books Event?

I wasn’t about to miss what’s dubbed to be the biggest book sale event in the Philippines. I’ve been there twice already. It’s heaven for book lovers!

Two million books available at 60-80 percent off. Open 24 hours a day.  10 day event beginning February 16 to 25.

So many books from different categories can be found inside! There are non-fiction books of various interests.  Cooking. Beauty.  Fashion. Photography. Architecture. Just to name a few.

Fiction more your thing? There’s plenty of those too and for people of all ages! Children stories.  Romance. Crime. Mystery. Thrillers. Name it and you’ll find it! There are even activity books at this book sale event!

The Big Bad Wolf Book sale originated in Malaysia. It’s been a regular event in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka already. It was founded by Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng in 2009. Most of the books come from their BookXcess, a bookstore specializing in excess stocks from international distributors.

What to Love About Big Bad Wolf Books?

I hate crowds and long lines. Great thing you won’t be spending hours in line for payment at this event. There are about 42 cashiers to accommodate all the shoppers. As for payment, they accept credit card, debit card or cash.

Also it’s very organized. You’ll be spending more time scouring the shelves for books!

Book Shopping for a Cause

Part of sale proceeds will go to Gawad Kalinga. It will fund housing projects in Marawi and Bicol.

Check out my book haul. I got them all for just Php2,000!

Book Shopping Highlights

One of my favorite finds at Big Bad Wolf Books isa hardbound copy of Sophie Kinsella’s Finding Audrey. It’s such a steal for only Php190! I’ve had my eyes on this book for months now at the bookstore!

I also decided to buy Lauren Conrad’s LA Candy series and Fame GameI remember reading LA Candy a few years back. Never got around to finishing it. I only read it at Powerbooks. Now I have my own copy!

I bought a Judy Blume book. Her stories are timeless! I’ll never forget reading Summer Sisters back in College. I also bought books from Jane Green. Never read her novels before.  Let’s see if  I’ll like it.

Lastly, I bought books from Lauren Weisberger. Am only familiar with her novel, Everyone Worth Knowing. I read it in 2010!

So Fun, You’ll Keep Coming Back

I want to go back! Still so many more books I want to buy!

Some shoppers shared their book haul online. They got to buy a box set of Paulo Coelho books and Archie graphic novels. I didn’t see those when I went. Now I’m itching to go back for part 3! I don’t know if I will though. I’m trying not to go broke! Ha! Ha! If I could just ask Mom to lend me her card again, I’d be shopping for more! I’d have a box full of books!

Anyway I’m happy with the books I got. Let’s see if there’s gonna be a part 3 for me!  I’m gonna have to really find time to sit down and read. I want to meet my 2018 GoodReads Reading Challenge.
