July. Officially 36 this month. Late 30s already! And I say this with both amazement and disbelief like “Fuck I’m old!”. Anyway, I’m not going to complain. Rather I choose to be more on the grateful side of things that I get to be 36. I know there’s still a lot to look forward to.
Reading
I just finished my first book for the month of July: Jojo Moyes One Plus One. And I’ve already started with a new book: James Patterson’s Murder House. I didn’t find it so hard to settle on my next read. I knew I wanted to mix things up after reading a few romance novels and chick lit these past couple of months.
Watching
I finally finished watching Modern Family on Netflix and let me tell you, I cried so much at that last season! So many real feels brought on by that show. If you haven’t watched it yet, you should! It’ll make you laugh and it’ll make you cry and it’ll teach you a lesson or two about family and life in general.
Now I’m rewatching Sex and the City series on HBO. It’s one of my faves! And you know what I just realized? I’m already of the same age as the women in the series – Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda. Not Samantha ‘cos she was a it older than the others. This series just became even more relatable to me now in terms of the problems they have. Dating. Marriage. Money. Work.
Oh and I just saw the first episode of the Gossip Girl reboot. Was not impressed by that pilot episode! But I’m reserving my full judgement of the series after I watch a couple more episodes. It’s on a staggered released. Shrewd HBO. If the audience likes it enough, they’ll just keep renewing their monthly subscription to follow the series. Full disclosure: I was a big fan of the books and the original series! So yeah, this show’s definitely gonna have to work harder to make me like it. Though I know I’m not really the market of the show anymore. Not a young adult anymore! Ha! Ha!
Feeling
Relaxed and happy. Well I am on a week long leave from work! There is a slight panic and worry that are trying to rise out of me too. This is brought on by the fact that a senior accounts person at work had just resigned! When I get back to work, it’ll be turnover week already! We’re undermanned at the office and this person’s leaving behind quite a number of accounts. Who’s going to have to step up to the plate? Me. Anyway, I’m pushing those feelings down, way way down for now. I’m going to savor my leave.
Also feeling a little nostalgic. I passed by my old office building recently (the one where I spent 4 years of my life being mentored on how to be a good accounts person in PR and events) and found that the building’s being demolished! I had so many memories from that place – both good and bad. Mostly good. What will rise from there? Probably another condominium. Another change.
Looking Forward To
A few things I’m looking forward to this coming week:
- A photo walk around Makati with my friend, Dom.
- My 2nd COVID-19 vaccine shot
- A home massage from VIP Wellness
- A visit to Bungalow Cafe with friends
- Payday (Doesn’t everyone?)
I had a tarot card reading session recently too. I went for a birthday and career reading. It was a good session I had with Pluto Tarot! When Dad picked out Communications as a course for me back in College, it was really because I couldn’t pick one out for myself. Now fast forward to years later, I’ve made a career in communications and while I’ve been strongly feeling like the tides are changing, I won’t have to deviate so far from the path. I’m happy to know that the cards affirmed all the thoughts running through my head and I’m definitely excited and feel determined to make changes happen for me. We may be already done with half of the year but 2021 still has so much in store for me. A lot of good things!
