On my recent travel to the Island of Enchantment aka Siquijor, I stayed at Dolce Amore Italian Restaurant and Resort, a place I would recommend to anyone choosing where to stay in Siquijor. I booked via Agoda so I could also get a cashback from Shopback. We settled on this place after careful consideration of the factors that were important for us as travelers when deciding where to book: affordability, accessibility, and comfort, which we can gauge from reviews of previous guests. An Instagram-worthy accommodation is just icing on top.

Dolce Amore’s Location

This hotel is situated in the town of San Juan, a top choice for travelers planning their stay in Siquijor. It’s a convenient area to choose a place to stay at for tourists as there are a lot of restaurants and various type of accommodations here.

To get to Dolce Amore Italian Restaurant and Resort, we took a tricycle from the Port of Siquijor. If you know how to drive a scooter, you can also rent one there. It took us about an hour to get to our hotel. We arrived at our hotel around 11 AM. They have limited rooms, though, so we had to wait until 2 PM, check-in time, to be able to settle in our rooms. We ate lunch at the restaurant first and lounged around the pool area while we waited.

A Look at Our Accommodation

If I recall correctly, there are just 8 rooms in total at Dolce Amore, and it’s a duplex style. We got two rooms and were adjacent to each other, with a view of the pool. My first impression was that it looked laidback and relaxing – definitely gave me the slow living vibes. While the restaurant can get busy, guests can be assured that the crowd chatter won’t be a bother. It’s far enough from the guests’ rooms.

The water temperature in the pool isn’t cold, but it’s refreshing enough for a swim. Depth-wise, it’s about five to six feet, which is perfect for my friends and I, who aren’t great swimmers.

Mandatory #OOTD by the pool because our hotel is pretty, especially in the daylight.

This is a look at our cozy room. I like its simple decor.

Dolce Amore Italian Restaurant: A Short Review

I mentioned early on that we had our lunch here when we arrived at the hotel and that the restaurant can get packed with a crowd during lunch and dinner times.

We ordered Quattro Formaggi pizza, pesto pasta, and an omelette with homemade bread plus coffee for my friend, Ryan. Italian food was the perfect lunchtime meal to replenish our energy after a long trip. These were delicious. Expensive but delicious. You’ll get your money’s worth, which is what matters! That’s why the restaurant is always filled with customers.

The Staff Service

Of course, when choosing a place, it’s not only the look of the accommodation that matters – the service is also important. The staff of Dolce Amore were always smiling, greeting us, and they were very accommodating of our requests. I recall that on the first night, it got pretty cold in the room despite turning off the air conditioning. We only had a thin blanket to share. The next day, upon request, we got a thicker comforter and even additional pillows. And when we were heading out to explore on that first day in the province, they assisted us in hailing a trike. That’s good service, which also made our trip to Siquijor relaxing and comfortable.
