I grew up in the ’90s, so I remember when Oasis was everywhere.

Their music videos were all over MTV, their songs played on the radio, and even if you weren’t a hardcore fan, you probably knew who Oasis was.

For me, “Champagne Supernova” and “Wonderwall” are the two Oasis songs that come to mind immediately. Not just because they were huge hits, but because some of my friends love singing them at videoke. If you grew up in the Philippines, you probably know exactly what I mean.

So when Oasis reunited, it felt like one of those surreal moments when something from your childhood suddenly becomes relevant again.

Now, I can revisit that ’90s nostalgia with Oasis Disney+ release Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger, which streams exclusively on Disney+ Philippines beginning October 9.

Oasis Is Back

Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger follows Liam and Noel Gallagher as they reunite for Oasis Live ’25, their highly anticipated reunion tour and one of the biggest musical comebacks in recent years.

Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, and written and created by Steven Knight, the documentary goes behind the scenes of the reunion, with access to rehearsals, backstage moments, and performances.

It also features something Oasis fans have been waiting more than two decades to see: the first joint interviews with Liam and Noel in over 20 years.

And considering the complicated history between the Gallagher brothers, seeing them together for a joint interview is a pretty big deal.

The film isn’t simply about putting Oasis back onstage, though. It also explores the emotional impact of their reunion and what the band’s music still means to fans around the world.

That part makes me particularly curious.

My ’90s Oasis Memories

I wouldn’t call myself an Oasis superfan. But I also can’t say Oasis wasn’t part of my life growing up.

That’s one of the funny things about ’90s music. Sometimes, you don’t have to actively follow a band for their songs to become part of your memories.

You heard them on the radio. Watched their videos on MTV. Heard your friends singing them. Eventually, the songs became part of the soundtrack of your life without you even realizing it.

And in the Philippines, Wonderwall has practically achieved a second life through videoke.

I’m pretty sure I’ve heard someone pick that song at a videoke session more times than I can count.

Then there’s Champagne Supernova, another song that immediately transports me back to that era.

Watching an Oasis documentary about their reunion, therefore, feels like more than just catching up with a famous rock band. It’s also a chance to revisit a piece of the pop culture I grew up with.

There’s More to See on Disney+

The Disney+ release includes exclusive material, too.

Fans will get access to never-before-seen footage, including material from the joint Liam and Noel interview and full performances of “Wonderwall” and “Slide Away.”

“D’You Know What I Mean?” and “Half The World Away” will also be available for the first time as part of the Disney+ release.

So even if you’ve followed Oasis for decades, there should be something new to discover.

The documentary has already made an impact in the UK and Ireland, where it became the year’s highest-grossing documentary feature film. It also earned a 97% Fresh rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside a 98% audience score.

Looking Back Without the Anger

There’s something particularly fun about watching artists from your younger years come back decades later.

The ’90s were a very different time for discovering music. There was MTV, the radio, music magazines, CDs, and whatever songs your friends happened to introduce you to. Streaming algorithms weren’t constantly serving up something new.

Oasis was part of that world.

And now, all these years later, Liam and Noel Gallagher are back together, performing the songs that helped define their era.

For this ’90s kid, Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger feels like an invitation to revisit the music, the memories, and the pop culture of a decade I remember fondly.

I may not have been the biggest Oasis fan back then, but I definitely know Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova when I hear them.

And yes, I can already imagine someone singing one of them at the next videoke night.
