This post is not about The Matrix and Neo’s choice of which pill to take: the blue pill or the red pill. But yeah, this blog post’s title is inspired by that movie. This is about SugarBear Hair, the hair vitamins I bought and have been taking for a while now.
A little backgrounder on this. A couple of months back, in search of ways to grow my hair, I stumbled upon SugarBear Hair vitamins on Beauty Manila and it had a lot of good reviews on it. Curious about the little blue pills, I went and read more about it online. SugarBear Hair are vitamins developed specifically to help you grow your hair and it contains the likes of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Folic Acid and Biotin that are key to helping you grow your hair longer and stronger. Read more about the ingredients here.
I’ve never dared to try taking vitamins that cannot be bought from your usual Mercury Drug or Watson’s pharmacy. I mean you gotta be careful about buying stuff online, especially when it’s something you have to ingest right? But I was convinced by all the rave reviews. And it turns out, these blue pills are endorsed by the Kardashians! Plus how cute is their Instagram feed?
Anyway since I’ve taken about three bottles of SugarBear Hair for three months now, it’s time to share what I thought about it. The instruction was to take two pills a day if you want your hair nourished from the roots and make it grow longer, stronger and shinier. So I did religiously.
The little blue pills look like gummy bears. It reminded me of the Flintstones vitamins my mom used to have me drink when I was still a kid. They both look like candies but what they are, are chewable vitamins.
What It Tastes Like
I was definitely hesitant at first to try them. In my mind, I expected them to come with a minty flavor even though the site said it’s sweet tasting. I guess it has something to do with it being color blue that gave me such an impression that it would be minty. But yeah, it taste sweet! Again like what you’re chewing are candies and not vitamins so I didn’t mind taking it. In fact, I loved them!
SugarBear Hair Vitamins cost Php2,100 for 1 bottle (60 capsules) and it’ll last you one month. According to the site, you should take the pills for at least six months to really see results although in a month’s time, you’ll start seeing results (as claimed by a lot of the reviews). So Php2,100 for six straight months, that’s a pretty steep a price if you ask me.
On their website though, they do offer bundles of 3 and 6 bottles – USD89.97 and USD179.94 respectively and that’s not counting shipping fee. With that included, a bundle of six would already cost a whopping Php10k! Buy one bottle every month in BeautyMNL and it’ll cost you around Php12k for 6 months.
Let’s talk about the results ‘cos that’s really the most important thing when buying a product. This is from their website:
What Do SugarBearHair Vitamins Do?
SugarBearHair gives you everything you need to grow the healthiest longest hair possible, it does this by:
Longer and stronger hair with improve strength, elasticity and no more breakage? Yes! These little blue pills are definitely effective. Nope, it’s not gonna make your hair grow super long super fast (is there even any product that claims that?) but just a month after getting my hair cut short and already it’s grown back to an awkward length where hair is starting to have unruly fly aways. It used to take a long while for my hair to grow in length. Boy! I wish these babies were around when I was younger. I wouldn’t have had to endure months of waiting for my hair to grow long again after a hideous hair cut!
Also since I started taking these blue pills, I’ve noticed that I’ve had less hair fall. I normally experience that whenever I’m taking a bath and I’ve wet my hair or when I’m combing my hair. When I ran my hand over my hair before, a hair or two would come along with it. But nope, not since these SugarBear Hair Vitamins!
I love these blue pills. They really work!
The Final Verdict
My third bottle of SugarBear Hair Vitamins is almost empty. But I’m not buying again even though I think they are effective. Why then? For a number of reasons.
1) Growing my hair long is not really what I’m after. What I really want more is to have grow my hair thick. SugarBear Hair doesn’t do that and I know because I’ve recently done a scalp test. Fine hair still.😞
2. I recently bought another product that also addresses hair fall control and breakage which basically makes this a redundant product. Also since the other product is easily available (SugarBear Hair is always out of stock in Beauty Manila!), I’m using more of that instead.
3. The price is pretty steep. But you know if you are a high roller and you’re after growing your hair long and strong, by all means. Buy this product! Promise it won’t disappoint you.
If you’re not from the Philippines, you can buy SugarBear Hair Vitamins on Amazon.
