Since the lockdown began, I’ve turned to streaming more movies and series to keep myself entertained. It also means trying out other streaming services like Amazon Prime to see what interesting shows I could watch there. Here are some really nice series both old and new I am hooked on!
1. House M.D.
This is a medical drama that centers on Dr. Gregory House (Hughe Laurie), who’s a genius doctor, devoid of bedside manner and will avoid talking to patients as much as he can. He walks around with a cane as he suffers from constant physical pain on his thigh and highly dependent on pain killers.
This is an old TV series. I think early 2000s. It’s so enjoyable to watch House and his team try to solve the uncover the mysterious illness making their patients sick. They’re like detectives except instead of trying to solve crimes, they solve illnesses.
2. Monk
Speaking of detectives, Mr. Monk is! This is also an old TV series, a comedy-drama detective mystery series starring Tony Shalhoub as the genius, phobic and obsessive compulsive former police detective, Adrian Monk. Together with his assistant, Sharona and later on, Natalie, Monk gets called in to solve the crimes that the San Francisco police department cannot do on their own.
The irony of the show’s opening song isn’t lost to me these days, It’s a Jungle Out There sang by Randy Newman.
People think I’m crazy to worry all the time. If you paid enough attention, you’d be worried too. You better pay attention or this world we love so much, might just kill you.
3. Jack Ryan
I’m a big fan of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Well, the movies since I’ve not read the books. So Amazon Prime decided to turn it into a series starring John Kransinski. It follows the story of Jack Ryan, a young CIA analyst as he is removed from his desk job and into the field throughout Europe and the Middle East after discovering a string of suspicious bank transfers.
This series is as intriguing, suspenseful and action packed as the Jack Ryan movies.
4. Goliath
This is another web series, an Amazon Prime original about a once powerful lawyer named Billy McBride. After becoming burned out and washed out and finding himself spending more time in a bar than a courtroom, in season 1, this reluctant lawyer finds himself pursuing a wrongful death lawsuit against the biggest client of the massive law firm he helped create.
The series, currently on its 3rd season, is aptly named so because Billy is pitted against big enemies, the ultimate Goliath.
5. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
This Amazon Prime web series is set in 1958 New York where Midge Maisel, played by Rachel Brosnahan, seemed to have her life on track – husband, kids and elegant Yom Kippur dinners at her Upper Westside apartment. But life takes a turn and she quickly has to decide what she’s good at and going from housewife to a stand up comic is a wild choice for everyone except her.
It’s created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the same writer of the Gilmore Girls series. It’s no wonder I enjoyed this series too.
What’s on your must-watch series list? Share away. Maybe I’ll like it too! I don’t care if it’s old or new as you can see from my own list above.

Thanks for sharing this, it’s reminded me of how much a neglect amazon prime in favour of netflix. But there are some really great shows on there, I recently watched Little fires everywhere and found they had changed it completely from the book.
I will try some of your recommendations out.
Thanks

Same here, I've neglected Amazon Prime in favor of Netflix but yep, there are some great shows there as well! I haven't seen Little Fires Everywhere but I have heard so much about it. I'll also give it a whirl. 🙂
