I talked about how shopping has been one way I’m fighting off quarantine fatigue these days in my April wrapup post. Well today I want to share my recent Shopee find: a headwrap! I’ve been toying with the idea of wearing this hair accessory for awhile now but I’ve hesitated. Someone once told me it looks silly! But I finally went ahead to buy because I figured why the heck not? I’m going to do my thing.

A brief history of headwraps

Headwraps are originally part of African culture and how they were styled represented wealth, ethnicity, marital status, mourning or reverence. Over the years, its become a fashionable accessory. In the 90s and 2000s, artists like Erykah Badu, Lauren Hill and India Arie wore towering headwraps and entered the mainstream. You can read more about the history of headwraps from this site.

My Headwrap Shots

shopee find: hair fashion accessory

Aren’t they wonderful? I initially had my eyes on a different headwrap design from a local online shop. They were more expensive though. I went looking on Shopee, my new window shopping habit and found these! I love that these are super affordable and they come in gorgeous designs too!

These are silk headwraps and ready to wear, just have to slip them on. I bought them so I could hide my bad hair days which is a lot these days as I grow out my pixie cut! I’ll get my hair cut again but since it’s not happening any time soon, I wear this. Since it’s also a fashionable hair accessory, I can also use it to mix up my look from time to time.

I’m definitely thrilled about my Shopee find that I’m proudly showing it off. I’m looking to buy more of these headwraps as there are various designs and styles to choose from. When I do, I’ll definitely be blogging about it again.
